5 of India’s 🇮🇳 safest vehicles, according to Global NCAP Rating
Safety has emerged as a top concern for purchasers of automobiles worldwide, particularly in India where traffic accidents are frequent. Selecting a car with a high safety rating can offer confidence and peace of mind while driving. In light of this, Global NCAP has compiled a list of vehicles that are thought to be the safest to purchase in India.
The five safest cars in India with 5-star safety ratings are the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Safari, Hyundai Verna, and more, according to Global NCAP:
Tata Safari/Harrier
The Global NCAP rating places the Safari and Harrier, the flagship vehicles of Tata Motors, at the top of the list of the safest vehicles in India. In terms of adult and child occupant protection, both vehicles received the highest rating. Both vehicles received five stars, with the adult occupant protection rating coming in at 33.05 out of 34 and the child occupant protection rating at 45 out of 49.

Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon, another vehicle from Tata Motors, is included in the list of the safest vehicles in India. The vehicle, which was introduced in 2023, is rated for both adult and child safety as the second-highest. The vehicle has received ratings of 32.22 points for adult occupant protection and 44.52 points for child occupant protection from the Global NCAP. This car’s starting ex-showroom price is approximately Rs 8.15 lakh.
Volkswagen Virtus/Skoda Slavia
On the list of the safest cars in India, the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia were tied for third place. According to the Global NCAP rating, these vehicles received a 5-star rating in both categories, scoring 29.71 points for adult occupant protection and 42 points for child occupant protection. Pricing-wise, Virtus’ ex-showroom starting price is Rs 11.48 lakh, while Slavia’s ex-showroom starting price is Rs 10.89 lakh.

Volkswagen Taigun/Skoda Kushaq
VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq share fourth place with starting ex-showroom prices of Rs 10.89 lakh and Rs 11.62 lakh, respectively. Both received 42 points for child occupant protection and 29.64 points for adult occupant protection in the worldwide NCAP testing.
Hyundai Verna
The new Verna, which goes on sale in 2023, is Hyundai’s first vehicle to be awarded a 5-star Global NCAP rating. The car, which had an ex-showroom starting price of approximately Rs 10.90 lakh, received a rating of 28.18 for adult occupant protection and 42 for child occupant protection (5 stars in both categories).
