Latest Update: The Volkswagen Taigun now comes with new features and service benefits this festive season.

Price: The Volkswagen Taigun is priced from Rs 11.62 lakh to Rs 19.76 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Variants: It is offered in two broad variants: Dynamic Line and Performance Line.

Colours: Customers can choose the Taigun in five colours: Curcuma Yellow, Wild Cherry Red, Candy White, Carbon Steel Grey and Reflex Silver. The carmaker has also launched Carbon Steel Matt and Deep Black colour options.

Boot Space: It offers a boot space of 385 litres.

Seating Capacity: The Volkswagen’s compact SUV has the capacity to seat five passengers.

Engine and Transmission: The Taigun comes with two engine options: a 1-litre engine (115PS/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre unit (150PS/250Nm). Both are paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. For automatic options, the smaller engine comes with a 6-speed torque converter, while the larger one gets a 7-speed DCT.

The claimed fuel efficiency figures are given below:

• 1-litre turbo-petrol MT: 19.20kmpl
• 1-litre turbo-petrol AT: 17.23
• 1.5-litre turbo-petrol MT: 18.47kmpl
• 1.5-litre turbo-petrol DCT: 17.88kmpl

The 1.5-litre engine has ‘Active Cylinder Deactivation,’ which improves fuel economy by shutting off two cylinders under low-stress conditions.

Features: The Taigun boasts a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, additional subwoofer and amplifier, ventilated and powered front seats, ambient lighting along with footwell lighting, a single-pane sunroof and auto climate control.

Safety: Passenger safety is ensured by up to six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a rear-view camera and seatbelt reminder for all passengers (standard).

Rivals: The Volkswagen Taigun is a rival to the Hyundai Creta, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Citroen C3 Aircross and Honda Elevate. Also, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic can be regarded as a rugged alternative to Volkswagen’s compact SUV
