Forthcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in 2024

There is a reason why Maruti Suzuki is India’s most popular and established carmaker. It is the brand that first put India on wheels and continues to do so in the face of stiff competition from major automakers. Maruti’s customer base, after-sales support, and dealer network are unparalleled to this day. Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers 17 models in India, which is difficult to match. However, the automaker is aiming for a higher figure with an aggressive business plan dubbed Vision 3.0. With the new plan, Maruti will launch eight new models in the near future to expand its portfolio in India. Lets discuss main models that will launch in 2024

New Swift

Maruti Suzuki is preparing a new avatar for the Swift and Dzire to compete with newly established players. In fact, the upcoming Dzire was recently spotted being tested on Indian roads, indicating that the launch is closer than expected. With the new Swift, Maruti Suzuki hopes to revive the sporty hatchback that provides good thrills on a budget. There will be numerous changes, including an updated design language that will also apply to the cabin. The most notable feature will be the new Z series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which will replace the current four-cylinder unit. This engine is expected to produce 89PS and 113Nm when mated to both manual and automatic transmissions.

Fronx hybrid

Maruti Suzuki may update its hybrid portfolio in 2025 with a hybrid version of the Fronx. However, unlike the brand’s current hybrid setups, this will be a novel technology and series hybrid setup. In this configuration, the electric motor will not be part of the driver, but will instead serve as a range extender, powering an electric motor to drive the wheels. This type of setup is cost-effective, and Maruti is expected to use the 1.2-litre Z series petrol engine in conjunction with a small battery pack for the Fronx hybrid. The new powertrain is expected to debut in 2025 with the Fronx, followed by other models in the brand’s current and future portfolio.

EWX Hatchback

Tata is at the forefront of EVs in India, with the highest volume and market share. Maruti Suzuki intends to disrupt this market with its new offerings. The EWX hatchback is one of these models. This will be an affordable, all-electric hatchback built on a new platform. Tata’s Tiago EV is the target, but we don’t expect the EWX to debut anytime soon. This model is scheduled to debut in 2026 or 2027. So, if you want an entry-level EV now or in the coming year, the Tata and MG Comet remain your only options.

Electric MPV

There are very few details about this. All we know is that Maruti Suzuki is planning an all-electric three-seater MPV for India called YMC. This electric MPV will be a novel model, debuting in 2026. Rumors also suggest that this new MPV will share its chassis, electric motor, and battery setup with the eVX, which will be released later this year. Maruti Suzuki’s future plans are aggressive, to say the least, as evidenced by the various body styles in the pipeline. With electrification taking center stage, all-electric people carriers are a largely untapped market in India.

The new Swift/Dzire will be available in a few months, followed by Maruti Suzuki’s first electric vehicle, the eVX. Although late, Maruti Suzuki appears to be moving quickly with electric vehicles, and we expect to see a slew of models in the next two years.
