When was the Kia KA4 unveiled?  

The Kia KA4 (also known as Carnival) was unveiled in India on 11 January 2022 at the Auto Expo 2023.

What features are available in the Kia KA4?

Exterior 

The Kia KA4 could be available in seven, eight, and nine seat configurations. Compared to the current-gen Kia Carnival, the new-gen KA4 adopts an SUV-ish stance with a much sharper design. Upfront, there’s a characteristic Kia fascia which is also seen on many international SUVs like the Palisade and Sorento. In profile, there are the familiar sliding rear doors with electric functions. Its flat roofline gets a floating effect as well thanks to the design of the C-pillar. And at the back, the KA4’s wraparound D-pillar is complemented by sleek LED tail lamps. It will offer a  paint scheme matching that of the Carens here in India.

Interior 

On the inside, the KA4 offers a characteristic Kia cabin with a floating screen atop the dashboard and an all-digital driver’s display. The rest of the cabin uses familiar elements seen on Kia models like the Seltos and Carens. In terms of features, it is expected to offer a dual sunroof, wireless charging, a hands-free powered tailgate, hands-free power sliding doors, power and ventilated front seats, three-zone climate control, window sunshades for the rear passengers, and a 12-speaker Bose-sourced music system. Moreover, the new KA4 is expected to offer ADAS as well.

What are the engine, performance and specifications of the model?

In terms of powertrain, the new-gen Carnival in the international market is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine producing 290bhp and 355Nm and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the India-spec KA4 is expected to continue with the older 2.2-litre diesel engine developing around 200bhp and 440Nm and paired to an eight-speed automatic.

Is the Kia KA4 a safe car?  

The Kia KA4 has scored five stars in the Australian NCAP rating but it’s not been tested for Global NCAP yet.

What are the rivals to the Kia KA4?  

The direct alternative to the Kia LA4 (Carnival) includes the Toyota Innova Hycross along with Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and other full-size SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
