Latest Update: We now know the power and mileage figures of the new-gen Suzuki Swift. Here’s how its engine specs compare to the old Swift and its rivals.

Launch: In India, it could be launched by March 2024.

Price: It could be priced from Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Engine and Transmission: The Japan-spec new-gen Suzuki Swift gets a new 1.2-litre 3 cyl mild-hybrid petrol engine which makes 82 PS and 108 Nm. The unit is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. It comes in both 2-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrains.

Here’s the fuel efficiency figures of the new Japan-spec Swift:

• Mild Hybrid: 24.5 kmpl
• Regular Petrol: 23.4 kmpl

The India-spec Suzuki Swift will likely get 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT with a 2WD setup.

Features: The new Swift is expected to come with features like a heads-up display and a 9-inch touchscreen unit from the facelifted Baleno. Maruti is likely to continue offering it with cruise control, auto AC, and connected car tech.

Safety: It is expected to come with up to 6 airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. According to latest spy shots, the India-spec Suzuki Swift will also get Blind spot detection feature.

Rivals: The new-gen Swift’s only direct rival will be the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. The Renault Triber is a 7-seat alternative at the same price point. It can also be regarded as a sportier alternative to the Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Ignis.
