New Mahindra vehicles will be introduced in India soon
Mahindra and Mahindra is preparing for a busy 2024 with the launch of several new models in India. A side from SUVs, the automaker intends to launch a new electric vehicle in the coming months. Overall, four new Mahindra vehicles are expected to be introduced next year. The five-door Thar SUV is one of Mahindra’s most anticipated models. When it arrives in India, the larger and more spacious version of the iconic 4X4 SUV will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
Here’s a quick rundown of some of the upcoming Mahindra SUVs and EVs that are expected to arrive in
India soon.
Mahindra Five-door Thar
The Thar SUV, one of India’s most popular off-road vehicles, debuted in its new form three years ago. The new Thar, which is now positioned as a lifestyle SUV in addition to being a capable go-anywhere vehicle, has helped Mahindra increase its sales in recent years. However, there was one flaw that the carmaker intends to address in the next version of the Thar SUV: interior space. The new five-door Thar will not only provide more space for occupants, but will also improve the SUV’s road presence. The five-door Thar SUV, which has been spotted testing on Indian roads several times, will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It is expected to be available with both gasoline and diesel engines.
Mahindra XUV300 facelift
In addition to the larger Thar, Mahindra is working on more facelift versions of its existing SUVs. The XUV300 facelift SUV, which competes with the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Hyundai Venue, has been spotted testing ahead of its upcoming launch. The new XUV300 is expected to borrow some design cues from Mahindra’s first electric SUV, the XUV400. So far, spy shots have revealed that it will have a new set of LED headlights and LED tail lamps, as well as an updated rear bumper with reflectors similar to the XUV400. Mahindra is unlikely to make any changes to the XUV300 facelift SUV’s engine.
Mahindra’s future electric SUVs
Mahindra XUV400 facelift
In the meantime, Mahindra is said to be working on an improved version of the XUV400 electric SUV. The updated XUV400 was recently spotted testing for the first time ahead of its release. In the electric four wheeler segment, the electric SUV competes with Tata Nexon EV, but has yet to replicate the success of its main rival. According to spy shots, the XUV400 EV facelift will include cosmetic updates such as redesigned LED headlight and DRL units and new alloy wheels. A larger battery pack is unlikely to be added by Mahindra. It may, however, provide slightly more range than it does in its current avatar.
Mahindra XUV.e8 electric SUV
Mahindra displayed five upcoming electric SUV’s at an event in the United Kingdom last August. The first
of these new generation electric vehicles will be released next year under the Born Electric brand. The XUV.e8, billed as the electric version of the XUV700 SUV, is expected to feature dual electric motors as well as all-wheel drive technology. Mahindra is expected to include at least a 60-kWh battery pack with the XUV.e8 EV, as well as features such as level 2 ADAS and 5G connectivity.
