Popular Kia cars ๐ available in India
Despite its entry into India in 2017, Kia has made an indelible mark on the Indian automotive market, rising to become one of India’s best-selling car brands. Kia has gathered a lot of love in just over six years, which is something that only a few other brands have done. With products such as the Seltos, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, and EV6 carrying on the brand’s flambeau of success, Kia’s sales increased significantly in the festive month of October, helping the carmaker finish as the fifth best-selling car brand of the month with a 6.2% market share
Kia Seltos
With the Seltos facelift working wonders for the brand, the SUV has gotten back its turbo-petrol engine,
this time in a larger 1.5-litre avatar, along with smart yet significant cosmetic changes and a slew of new features. All of this has helped the SUV regain its declining popularity and become the icon it was meant to be. Taking advantage of the holiday spirit, the Kia Seltos sold 12,362 units in October 2023, representing a 26% year-on-year increase. With this, the Kia Seltos became the month’s third best-selling SUV, as well as the best-selling Kia car.
The SUV now has a bigger and better 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed iMT/7-speed DCT,
as well as a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 6-speed manual/CVT and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with 6-speed iMT/torque-convertor automatic.
Kia Sonet
Kia Sonet’s success story is nothing short of magical, as she turns three in September 2023. The Sonet, hailed as one of India’s most popular compact SUVs, has sold over 2.2 lakh units, a feat rarely accomplished in this time frame. The Kia Sonet’s modern yet sporty looks, along with a slew of premium features and well-refined engine options, make it a raging success in the segment. Despite a 15% year-on-year decline in sales, the Sonet managed to become the second best-selling Kia car as well as the seventh best-selling compact SUV in October 2023, selling 6,493 units.
The Sonet is available with three powerful engines: a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-litre naturally
aspirated petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The Sonet comes with a six-speed iMT or a seven-
speed DCT transmission for the turbo petrol, a five-speed manual for the naturally aspirated petrol, and
a six-speed manual/AT transmission for the diesel.
Kia carens
Kia’s answer to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Kia Carens, has proven to be a worthy successor. The Kia Carens, which celebrates its one-year anniversary in the auspicious month of October, has already made waves in the market thanks to its modern looks, a slew of premium features, and a better overall cabin comfort and looks than all competitors. Despite a 2% year-on-year decline in sales, the Kia Carens closed in on the third best-selling Kia car of the month in October 2023, with a great run ahead. In fact, the Carens has already become one of Kia’s most important contributors.
Kia EV6
The Kia EV6, the Korean automaker’s first all-electric crossover in India, is a capable premium electric option. The EV6 is pricey, but it makes up for it with exhilarating performance, a premium cabin, cutting-edge features, and excellent comfort. Despite having a limited number of units available, the EV sold 141 units in the festive month of October 2023, becoming the fourth best-selling Kia car of the month, despite a 7% year-on-year growth.
Kia has equipped the India-spec EV6 with a 77.4kWh battery pack and two powertrain options, including
a single-motor rear-wheel drive and a dual motor all-wheel drive (325PS and 605Nm). The EV6 has an
ARAI-claimed range of up to 708 kilometers, making it a worthwhile purchase.
