Summer Safety Guidelines for CNG Vehicles 🚗 Following Fire Incidents
Authorities released guidelines for owners of CNG vehicles and drivers of such natural gas-based vehicles in anticipation of the upcoming scorching summer. This occurred because the Delhi-NCR area has previously seen a number of summertime CNG vehicle fire incidents. The authorities have provided CNG vehicle owners with a number of recommendations to address this issue.

CNG Vehicles Summer Safety Precautions
According to government guidelines, owners of CNG vehicles should have their CNG cylinders hydro tested once every three years.
Drivers of CNG vehicles should abstain from smoking in particular.
It is recommended that drivers carry a fire extinguisher in their car.

Drivers of CNG vehicles should periodically have the wiring in their cars inspected. Look into the car to see if the wire plug is sparking anywhere.
Utilize the CNG kit provided by the company
It is recommended that drivers use the company-fitted CNG kit instead of installing aftermarket kits to help prevent CNG gas leaks. It is advised to conduct routine cylinder leakage tests in order to uphold safety regulations. For best results, replace the air filter in your car according to the manufacturer’s instructions every 10,000 kilometers, especially if you drive a CNG vehicle. Using CNG kits with warranty and insurance coverage is also essential.

In order to avoid overheating when traveling long distances in CNG vehicles, drivers should stop occasionally. When refueling, it is best to avoid smoking close to the pump and to turn off the car before filling up with CNG. To reduce potential risks, electronic equipment should not be used during this process.
Recent Fire incidents in CNG vehicles
A CNG vehicle caught fire on March 10, 2024, following a collision with another vehicle at NHPC Chowk on the highway. The car’s driver was severely burned and stuck.
