After teasing us with the Urban SUV concept last year, the Japanese automaker confirms that its electric marvel will be available six months after Maruti’s scheduled March 2025 launch.
This means that eager buyers can expect to see the production version in Indian showrooms between September and October 2025, according to Autocar.

Toyota’s Urban SUV concept, measuring 4,300mm in length, 1,820mm in width, and 1,620mm in height, is strikingly similar to Maruti’s eVX. Not only that, but both models are expected to have the same 2,700mm wheelbase, resulting in a familiar yet durable design.
The Urban SUV draws inspiration from its current EV lineup, such as the bZ compact SUV concept, with edgy surfaces and distinct C-shaped LED daytime running lamps. With its rugged appearance and flared wheel arches, the SUV embodies a classic upright silhouette reminiscent of its Maruti counterpart. Furthermore, the rear end is strikingly similar to the eVX, with a familiar door and glass house design.

While Toyota has kept interior details under wraps, we can expect a seamless integration of comfort and technology that mirrors the eVX. The Urban SUV promises a plush interior packed with creature comforts and advanced safety features, thanks to its EV skateboard platform, which provides ample space and flexibility.
Toyota’s electric offering, like Maruti’s, will be built on the 27PL skateboard platform, which Suzuki manufactures locally in Gujarat for both domestic and export markets.

Buyers can expect two battery pack options: a 60kWh unit with a range of approximately 550km, as shown in the eVX concept, and an entry-level variant equipped with a smaller 48kWh battery pack with a range of around 400km. Toyota also hinted at offering front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive options in select markets.
Toyota’s midsize electric SUV will face stiff competition when it launches, including the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and even its sibling, the Maruti eVX.
